What we build, and how it is scoped
Four kinds of work, one engagement model. Everything is quoted in writing after a short discovery period, and the code belongs to you.
Custom web applications
A system designed around one business's actual process. Used when off-the-shelf software forces a company to work in a way that does not match how it really operates.
- Customer-facing portals and self-service areas
- Operations, booking, scheduling and order management
- Reporting dashboards built on existing data
- Role-based access for staff, clients and partners
Integrations & APIs
Connecting systems that were never designed to work together, so records stay consistent without anyone re-typing them.
- Payment and billing platform integrations
- ERP, CRM and accounting system syncs
- Public and partner APIs, with documentation
- Webhook handling, retries and reconciliation
Internal tools & automation
The software nobody demos but everybody depends on. Usually the fastest return of anything on this page.
- Admin panels and back-office interfaces
- Scheduled jobs, imports and exports
- Invoice, contract and document generation
- Replacing critical spreadsheets with real systems
Maintenance & support
A live system needs attention. Under a monthly agreement we keep it patched, watched and gradually improved.
- Dependency, runtime and security updates
- Uptime and error monitoring
- Agreed response times for incidents
- A monthly allowance for small changes
Two ways to work with us
Which one applies depends on whether the work has a definable end. We will tell you which we think it is.
Fixed-scope project
For work that can be described and finished. One written scope, one price, one delivery window.
- Discovery first, then a fixed quote
- Invoiced in stages against milestones
- Working demo every two weeks
- Ends with deployment and handover
Monthly retainer
For continuous development or care of a live system. An agreed number of development days each month.
- Rolling monthly term
- 30 days' notice on either side
- Priorities reviewed at the start of each month
- Unused capacity is not carried forward
On pricing. We do not publish rates, because a quote depends entirely on scope. What we do commit to is that you receive a written price before development starts, and that it does not change unless you change the scope in writing.
What we do not do
Being clear about this saves everyone time, and it is a fair signal of how we work.
Large multi-team programmes
We are a small senior company. Work that needs a full team of ten is work we will decline rather than under-serve.
Design-only or marketing sites
Branding, campaigns, SEO retainers and content work are not what we sell. We build applications.
Mobile apps as a standalone
We build web applications that work well on phones. Native iOS and Android apps are better placed with a specialist.
Not sure which of these you need?
Describe the problem rather than the solution. Part of discovery is working out which kind of work actually fixes it.
